A crochet hair tie using a light and soft weighted garn by Red Heart and a 4m crochet hook, scalloped edging and a leaf tipped tie. Stitches Used in US terminology
Ingredients
MethodThe Hairtie RingSlip st around hair tie; ch 1 1) Work sc around hair tie to cover pushing back 4 times with enough coverage but not so many sc that the elastic looses its stretch ability; join with slip st to 1st sc (Avoid making the stitches too tight to allow maximum stretch of the ties elastic) 2) Ch1, slip stitch in next 4 sts, *hdc in next st, dc in next st, tr in next 2 sts, dc in next st; repeat from * to last st, hdc in last st, join with slip st to 1st sc. If there's more or less stitches, repeat the scallop in a decrease or increase accordingly. Ie 2 stitches left and your on the 2nd treble 'treble twice in that stitch and the double followed by hdc in the next'. Fasten off. The Tie, Starting end/LeafCh 2 1) Sc in 2nd ch from hook, turn (1sc) 2) Ch 1, sc in same stitch, sc in next stitch, turn (2sc) 3) Ch 1, sc in same stitch inc1 in next stitch, sc in last stitch, turn (3sc) 4) Ch 1, sc in same stitch, inc1 in next stitch, sc in last stitch, turn (4sc) 5) Ch 1, sc in same stitch, inc1 in next stitch, sc in each of the last two stitches, turn (5sc) 6) Ch 1, sc in same stitch, sc in each to end of row, turn (5sc) 7) Ch 1, sc in same stitch, sc in each to end of row, turn (5sc) 8) Ch 1, sc in same stitch, sc in each to end of row, turn (5sc) 9) Ch 1, sc in same stitch, sc the next 2 stitches together, then sc in each to end of row, turn (4sc) 10) Ch 1, sc in same stitch, sc the next 2 stitches together, then sc in each to end of row, turn (3sc). The Tie, Length11 to 36) Ch1, sc in 1st st, sc to end of row, turn (3sc) (Tip: you can use a stitch marker to mark every tenth row to keep count) Shaped increase to decrease Tie end/Leaf12) Ch1, sc in 1st st, 2sc in next, sc to end of row, turn (4sc) 13) Ch1, sc in 1st st, 2sc in next, sc to end of row, turn (5sc) 14) Ch1, sc in 1st st and to end of row, turn (5sc) 15) Ch1, sc in 1st st and to end of row, turn (5sc) 16) Ch1, sc in 1st st and to end of row, turn (5sc) 17) Ch1, sc in 1st st, sc next 2 stitches together, sc to end of row, turn (4sc) 18) Ch1, sc in 1st st, sc next 2 stitches together, sc to end of row, turn (3sc) 19) Ch1, sc in 1st st, sc last 2 stitches together, turn (2sc) 20) Ch1, sc last 2 stitches together, secure/fasten off and weave in ends. Shape or block the tie. The FinishSew in all ends with the garn needle. Shape and block to stop any curling up of the tie. When dry, knot the tie around the 4 slip stitches.
