My second go at the slouchy cat beanie, but this time in horizonal stripes and in one strand with a 5mm crochet hook. In Lavender and Violet because there is not enough purple in my life (which I'm currently addressing) This time round with the beanie I didn't sew the ears as I did last, due to the horizontal bulk opposed my first having vertical bulk. I did sew the ears but the beanie just didn't sit or slouch with so I I removed the sewn stitching. The horizontally worked dc provides plenty of malleable structure/width. MethodBeanie is worked bottom up and seamed before crocheting a dc rib hem. Ribbing hemSew in ends and turn work right side facing out out. Rib Rows, working around posts after a first row of sc; 1) Starting with next stitch from center back seam, secure in Lavender garn with sc1 and ch1 up, and sc1 into each stitch around to the beginning of the round and slip stitch to the top of the first 1ch in the round. 2) ch2 up 2, *dc1 around/behind next dc post, dc1 around/in front next dc post* repeat to beg of round, slip st to top of ch2 at the beginning of the round 3) ch2 up 2, *dc1 around/behind next dc post, dc1 around/in front next dc post* repeat to beg of round, slip st to top of ch2 at the beginning of the round 4) ch2 up 2, *dc1 around/behind next dc post, dc1 around/in front next dc post* repeat to beg of round, slip st to top of ch2 at the beginning of the round secure and sew in ends In ClosingOne can switch the dark and light color combo for a dark ribbing but I chose the lighter color to my face to cast light not shadow on my mature lady face but this is a handy way to incorporate a color that washes you out usually by alternating with a color or tone that flatters your skin or brings out a feature accordingly..
